DVB-T2 is set to happen in Italy DTT in 2014/15 through regulatory invervention. The main broadcasters (RAI, Mediaset) are experimenting.

Austria to migrate to DVB-T2 in August 2014
Migrating from DVB-T to DVB-T2 and forgeting about the much bigger gain that can be had: migrating from MPEG2 or AVC to HEVC by waiting one year: seems like a pretty strange plan. Of course there is some installed base for HD-T2, but that can hardly be the justification. There must be some institutional lobbying abberation behind this one. Guess the picture below says it all.
Schmidt: TV is so over (for Google?)
Google must be giving up on linear TV; at least that is one way of reading this kind of statement. He may be right in a sense of growth, OTT VOD is small compared to linear TV so it still has a lot of growth potential.

£14 million for new Samsung smart TV campaign
Is it news; well… it dies show that Samsung is serious about pushing they sMartTV feature in the market against other tv brands. It is clear Samsung did spend a lot of effort of creating a broad content offer and good navigation. This is a demonstration (at least in one country) that they want to cash in on their investment.
